While a trattoria sounds like a coat that Benedict Arnold would wear, it's really a name for an Italian eatery that is not as formal as a ristorante, but not so casual for you to prop your flip-flopped feet on the table. Enjoy fine Italian food without the snobbery and for less lire with today's Deal for $20 worth of dinner and drink for only $10 from da Baldo's Trattoria. Toast a friend from their wine list!
When Baldo Gandolfo arrived in the United States from his small town of Salemi (southwest from Palermo, Sicily), he thought that he would one day be a teacher or diplomat. Yet, since 1969, he has thrilled the St. Louis area with exquisite Italian cooking. He became partners with La Cino's Restaurant and in 1976 opened Italian Garden Restaurant. This partnership lasted many years until 1981 when Baldo sold his share of La Cino's and Italian Garden Restaurant and opened Da Vinci's. Da Vinci's is now renamed da Baldo's, but one thing remains consistent throughout the years: dedication to authentic, quality Italian food.
The atmosphere at da Baldo's Trattoria is casual yet elegant with mirrors and art gracing the walls. The white linen tablecloths brighten the well-proportioned room. You will be met by Baldo's wife, Madda, the hostess, while Baldo's sister, Rita, runs the kitchen. The family also owns an Italian ice cream company and provides excellent Italian desserts to retailers in the area.
Whether you order Penne all'Amatriciana, Chicken Pinot Grigio, Linguine Bucaniera, Ricciole di Melanzane, or any of their other signature dishes, you are guaranteed to enjoy freshly prepared meals that will have you coming back for more.
